The law has recently changed in the State of Colorado, and the court now has the right to decide which parent has control over certain aspects of the responsibility of raising their shared child or children, this situation is called “parental decision making.” The court usually becomes involved when two parents disagree over issues that affect the child. The court may assign certain parental responsibilities to one parent, and may assign other responsibilities to both parents.
Certain issues that may be addressed while assigning parental decision making include:

- Religion of the child
- School the child will attend
